RAILSHAKE is a local favorite with a style all its own. Serving many made-from-scratch recipes and sauces, along with locally sourced steaks that we hand cut in-house, Railshake’s focus is to bring the freshness and quality of a homemade meal into a fine casual dining experience.
Burgers, jambalaya pasta, and everything in between.
Enjoy Railshake for lunch or dinner. Our menu and specials include variety of dishes from American to Cajun/Creole.
A “must try” is Teffy’s Famous Homemade Remoulade. That stuff is delicious on her Spicy Chicken Wraps, which are only available as a special during lunch on Wednesdays.

RAILSHAKE offers a fun, family-friendly environment.
STAY INSIDE and enjoy our comfortable dining area, or pull up a stool at the bar. We have no doubt you’ll love the ice rail and our top-of-the-line draft system, which features 18 specialty craft beers from many local breweries! We also offer four video gaming machines for those of you who feel lucky (and are over 21).
STEP OUTSIDE and relax on our 3-season patio overlooking the tracks. During warm weather, our patio hosts live music, shrimp boils, and other events. As always, leashed pets are welcome on our patio!

Built in 1856, Railshake sits along a stretch of railroad tracks in Highland, IL. This beautiful historic building originally housed a hotel but served the majority of its years as a tavern, entertaining many locals before closing its doors in 2010. In September of 2013, the doors at 504 Walnut would open once again as Railshake was brought back to life following an extensive rebeautification of its original craftsmanship. Today, this restaurant and bar is a local favorite and is proudly owned by Teffy and Brian Beard, along with their daughter Tegan.
These walls hold a rich history, and if you’re curious to know if its “past” clientele loved the place as much as we do, let’s just say we have a feeling some of them never wanted to leave…
Then and now.
