Built in 1856, Railshake sits along a stretch of railroad tracks in Highland, IL. This beautiful historic building originally housed a hotel but served the majority of its years as a tavern, entertaining many locals before closing its doors in 2010. In September of 2013, the doors at 504 Walnut would open once again as Railshake was brought back to life following an extensive rebeautification of its original craftsmanship. Today, this restaurant and bar is a local favorite and is proudly owned by Teffy and Brian Beard, along with their daughter Tegan.
These walls hold a rich history, and if you’re curious to know if its “past” clientele loved the place as much as we do, let’s just say we have a feeling some of them never wanted to leave…

Excellent food! The kids menu was perfect. The Chicken Bacon Ranch Panini and Wrap were die for! I’m talking melt in your mouth. The atmosphere was cute and total small town bar.

Great selection of craft beer, great food, and wonderful owners and staff. Mackenzie was our bartender both times. She always makes my wife and I feel welcome.
